The rupee-dollar parity rates stuck in a narrow band in the open market on Tuesday for buying and selling at 59.35 and 59.40, respectively. The marketmen said that the dollar was in demand due to the payment requirements but on the other hand exporters' dollars selling and sufficient supply of the US currency in the shape of remittances eased pressure over the local currency. The rupee might not show sharp fluctuations versus the dollar in the coming days, they expect.

The euro recovered its overnight losses, gaining 40 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 77.40 and Rs 77.70 on slight improvement in its demand in the overseas markets, dealers said

In the world market, range-bound trading was seen in the US currency as it moved in a narrow band ahead of the Federal Reserve interest rate decision and the gathering of Group of Seven finance ministers and central bankers late in the week, dealers said.

INTERBANK RATES: Firmness prevailed in the interbank market as the rupee almost maintained its levels for buying at Rs 59.34 and for selling at Rs 59.38, marketmen said.
